Going into our Disneyland vacation, I had a secret — a secret that would reveal itself on Monday, June 24th, 2013…a secret that I had been keeping from my wife and daughter for about three months.
On Monday morning, over breakfast at Storyteller’s Cafe, I let them in on the secret. I told them, you girls have an appointment at Noon at Mandara Spa for manicures!
Sophie and Cindy were floored — Sophie had been saying EVERY TIME we would pass by the spa that she wanted to go in, and Cindy had no idea that I had planned that for them. As I said, I made the reservation about three months earlier, for manicures only — Sophie is only 12 after all, and isn’t ready (in my mind, anyway) for a massage or something like that!
So I sent them off, while I hung out on the balcony of our room, enjoying the weather and the sites of Paradise Pier. When they came back, Sophie had purple nails and Cindy had pink nails! They kept talking about it when they got back — how they massaged their fingers, treated them right, and for those of you with DVC memberships, you get 20% off the cost of the treatment if you let them know. For Cindy and Sophie, with the discount and gratuity added in, the cost for both of them was only like $57, well worth every penny I thought — and quite reasonable, too!
If you are going to be at the Grand California Hotel, and want to treat yourself to a visit to Mandara Spa, check out their website, and give them a call!
