Hello everyone, and welcome to this week’s Tiggerific Tuesday Trivia post! Thanks for joining me and my friends Jenn from Disney Babies Blog, Heidi from Heidi’s Head, and Jodi from Magical Mouse Schoolhouse as we bring you our fun Disney trivia!
I found an interesting piece of trivia about Abraham Lincoln that I thought I would share with you — I hope you enjoy it! Special thanks to my friends at This Week in Disney History for having such a great Disney history site!
Did you know…
That Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln was the first Disney-created attraction to feature an Audio-Animatronics human figure. The attraction made its debut at the 1964 World’s Fair.
Now, who can tell me what the first Audio-Animatronics figure was, human or otherwise? The answer is located at the bottom of this post, take a guess before you get there!

Now, on to our answer!
The first official Audio-Animatronic was the birds in the Enchanted Tiki Room at Disneyland! This show opened in 1963, 50 years ago! However, before the term Audio-Animatronics came into being, Disney tested with a toy bird that he found in New Orleans, as well as a character known as the “Dancing Man” that was created by Roger Broggie and Wathel Rogers.
I knew it was the Tiki Birds!!!
(Self Five! Gets embarrassed. Composes self.)
Thanks for the Trivia.
And now look at all the Audio-Animatronics used at the parks. Great innovator, how did he know we would love these so much? Thanks for sharing!
I love the Tiki Birds, they are such fun. I have the CD soundtrack of it in my car and play it on repeat all the time. Great trivia!
I knew it was the Tiki Birds. I’ve read the story of Walt’s wanting to create them. Gotta love Walt Disney! Just think what the world would be missing if it weren’t for him!
I’m amazed by what they can do with audio animatronics! I haven’t seen Great Moments With Mr. Lincoln yet, but it’s on my to do list for whenever I go to Disneyland!
Oh, the wonderful tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki birds! 🙂
