Hi everybody! It’s me, Sophie! I’m sorry I haven’t been here in a while, I lost track. Anyway, I’ve got some great news!:D On June 20th my family and I will be going to Disneyland for the 1st time in our lives!!!!! So, I’ve written a blog post about what I’m looking forward to the most at Disneyland.
Well, here it goes. What I’m looking forward to the most at Disneyland is the fun of being there for the first time in my life. There are some things at Disneyland that are original, that only Disneyland has like “Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin” and Mickey and Minnie’s actual home town, not just their vacation homes. Besides there is a bunch more like “Cars Land” and “Critter Country” and stuff like that. Then there is “Buena Vista Street”. The statue of Walt Disney and that famous mouse has Mr. Disney’s story about how he found himself destined to make Disneyland and WDW. It’s so interesting to me.
Then there’s “Paradise Pier” which, in my opinion, should be called “the land of non-stop summer”… or at the very least nicknamed. Of course there is Sleeping Beauty Castle. It is one of my top missions to watch the fireworks go off from behind the castle in the best place possible! Then there is the World of Color, the most beautiful scene in California (click the link to see the premier party video for World of Color). I think it would be cool to see it from Mickey’s Fun Wheel too. It would look so pretty from above. It looks beautiful in the picture above and that’s from a side view! Well I hope you liked it.
Oh! I almost forgot, think about what YOU would look forward to the most if you were to go to Disneyland. When you have an answer, leave me a comment at the bottom of this post, and I’ll write about the best ones! 😀

Hi, Sophie! You have SO MUCH to look forward to. I’m excited to hear all about it when you get back home! I hope that we can one day go to Disneyland too – in fact, we had it planned for this year, but decided to do something different instead. I think the World of Color show looks amazing! But, Ian would be most looking forward to Carsland. He’s been BEGGING us to take him to Disneyland just for that! For me, I think it would be especially need to walk in the same places that Walt Disney once walked. 🙂
If I were on my way to Disneyland…I would be looking forward to the Haunted Mansion and Storybook Land Canal Boats. There’s really soooo much to look forward to there, but I think these 2 things would be at the top of my list.
Have a great time on your upcoming trip!!
Hey there Sophie!
Golly, you’re so lucky to be heading to Disneyland. I think the whole experience of being in Walt’s dreamland would be amazing. Carsland looks like so much fun, please post for us what you think about it. I’d be excited to see the castle, too! There are so many differences in DL and WDW I don’t know where I’d start first. So excited for you guys!
Hi, Sophie! I just love when you visit your dad’s blog! I haven’t been to Disneyland yet either. I sure wish I could hide away in your suitcase 😉 I think the thing I am looking forward to doing first are the rides/attractions that are not duplicated at WDW, like the Matterhorn Bobsleds (even though I hear it’s a rough ride) and California Screamin’, and especially World of Color and Carsland! I’ve been told that although Disneyland is much smaller than WDW, it just has a more magical feel, because that’s where it all began, and it’s almost as if Walt Disney is magically there with you every step of the way. Have a great time!!!
First of all Sophie, I’m JEALOUS!! I have never been to Disneyland either and I can imagine how excited you are. I think I would most want to see Sleeping Beauty Castle and take a walk in Walt’s footsteps. If I could do anything at Disneyland I would love to take a tour of Walt’s Apartment. I would love to see the rooms where Walt and Lilly made many wonderful memories with their girls. I cannot wait to hear all about the Disneyland trip!! Have a great time, and say “Hello!” to Mickey and Minnie for me. 🙂
Hey Sophie! I love your nickname for Paradise Pier. I’ll be visiting Disneyland for the first time in August. I can’t wait to see Main Street, Walt’s Apartment, and Sleeping Beauty Castle. I’m also really looking forward to riding Radiator Springs Racers. I hope you and your family have a great time and I’m looking forward to reading all about it when you get back.
Hi we will be at Disneyland on Jun 23rd for 3 days. The main purpose of this trip is to pick up our AP’s.
What not to miss at Disneyland is the details. People run from ride to attraction to the next ride without stopping to look at what is really there. Spend an early morning in Fantacy Land , stop by SnowWhites Grotto. Look for all the hidden gems, there are so many. At the other park Cars land is a must. Be there at dusk when they turn the lights on. It is so special. Enjoy the music in both parks. We live in Northern California and have plans for at least 4 trips between this June and next. You will never get bored. We go almost every year and I always find something new.
I’ve been to Disneyland before, so I’m looking forward to seeing Cars Land since I have never seen that.
You are going to LOVE going there. There are very few rides that are exactly the same in Disney World & Disneyland. Enjoy noticing the subtle difference between the rides from the different park.
Plan lots of time for Toontown. It is WAY more fun that Toontown Fair was at Disney World. Go around and push and pull on everything.
Great post, Sophie! I can’t wait to hear about the fireworks after you’ve seen them. Sleeping Beauty Castle sounds really pretty!
Hi Sophie,
That is a great post and I am thrilled that you guys will be getting to visit Disneyland VERY soon! It will be so wonderful! All I kept thinking before I went was the fact that Walt Disney actually walked on those roads and rode in those rides. I have never been so happy to be “close” to someone before as I absolutely love the man. I love Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland — so much better than the one at WDW. The Indiana Jones ride was fantastic also!!! If you like Fantasmic you will LOVE World of Color. It is like Fantasmic times 10!! Get there early to get a good seat as you will likely be sitting on the ground. Honestly, Mickey’s Fun Wheel scared me to death. The cars slide along a rail back and forth as the ferris wheel goes around. I am afraid of heights so that was out of the question! I sure hope you will love it though as I don’t think you are afraid of anything. Be sure to take lots of pictures. We are all dying to see them! Have a great time! Love ya!
Sophie, you are going to LOVE Disneyland! I went for the first time 15 years ago and I remember loving all of the classic attractions from Walt Disney World and pointing out any/all differences. You will love the Matterhorn, World of Color and Paradise Pier. Please report back! 🙂
That is a great list Sophie. I have yet to be to Disneyland and cannot wait to see your reviews when you return.
Hi Sophie!!! I am so excited for you to be going to Disneyland!!! I remember when I went – I couldn’t believe I was actually there!!! For me just being on Main Street USA was the most exciting thing in the whole world! To know that Mr. Disney’s vision had come to life and I was there to experience it!!! I would also love to see the Haunted Mansion and Sleeping Beauty Castle.
But I think – just like I felt so many years ago… just walking in the footsteps of Mr. Disney still makes my heart smile!!!!
Have a Magical Time with your family!!!!

Sophie~ How exciting!! I went to Disneyland in 2010. Carsland was not open yet and they were still working on World of Color, so I missed that too. Those are the two things I would most like to see now. But, a few of my other favorites from our trip were the Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Carribean, & Toontown. My favorite place to eat was Carnation Cafe on Main Street. We ate there for breakfast and got to meet the chef. His name is Oscar Martinez. He’s a wonderful man, if you get the chance to meet him. He wears a tall, white chef’s hat- he’s easy to spot! 🙂 Have FUNNNNN!!!!

“The land of non-stop summer”; Sophie, you nailed it!! My 21 year old son’s favorite spot in Disneyland is Mickey’s Toontown, precisely because it is so different from anything at Walt Disney World (and he loves Roger Rabbit). You will love every minute of your “California Adventure”!!
Hi Sophie! What an exciting adventure you have ahead of you! I think your list is fantastic. Carsland is one attraction that I would enjoy experiencing most. From all the pictures and people’s reviews it sounds awesome. I hope you’ll get to see it! Have a magical trip! I look forward to reading all about it!
Hey Sophie!
I live in Alabama, which is like forever away from Disneyland. I will probably never visit in my lifetime, so there is nothing I am truly looking forward to. However for your visit, you should be looking forward to ice cream. Ask your dad to buy lots of it for you and your mom. Let me know what kind you liked best and where you got it from…Tell Dad I said not to be a Cheapskate like I would be. The more ice cream, the better, and to throw in a cup cake here and there.

When I went to Disneyland I was most excited for Its a Small World! There are Disney characters in the ride and your board your boat outside!! Make sure you guys ride it during the day and at night because its fun to see it all up in lights! Have fun and take lots of pictures in front of Sleeping Beauty’s bright pink castle! 🙂
Sophie, it sounds like you are going to have a magically wonderful time at Disneyland, and I can’t wait to hear about it! I am mostly interested in what you experience at Chavez Ravine while watching the Dodgers play baseball. Take a ton of pictures!
Love you bunches!
